Incapacitated Driver Barrels Into Storefront In Wantagh

An incapacitated driver slammed his SUV through the front of a Long Island business early Thursday, March 13.

The wreck happened in Wantagh, on Merrick Road near Brookside Avenue, at around 5:50 a.m., according to the Wantagh Fire Department.

A 37-year-old man was driving a Buick SUV westbound on Merrick Road when he suffered a medical emergency and struck a utility pole before crashing into the storefront, fire officials said.

The driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately given. Nobody else was injured in the crash.

The building is home to CRC Computer Repair and Valhallan E-Sports Training. Photos from the scene showed significant damage to its front end, along with a downed utility pole.
